My journey to plant plant-based healthy lifestyles.

Today, I will share my journey from not being healthy to having a healthy lifestyle. I had my son there in 2013. Post pregnancy, I gained too much weight (about 65 kg), which was quite disturbing for me. I did not feel confident; rather, none of my clothes fit me. I was not confident enough to wear Western outfits. I was completely lost and kept on thinking Why is this happening to me only. Then one day, suddenly scrolling down the internet, I came across the term” PLANT-BASED FOOD”.

I was first drawn to a plant-based diet because of its simplicity, health benefits, and mindful eating approach. Choosing a plant-based diet felt like choosing life in its purest, which is the most vibrant form. I was inspired by the idea that what we eat can be a daily act of self-love, healing, and connection to the Earth. Every colourful meal became a reminder that true wellness came from nature’s abundance. It was not just about food; it was about living with intention, honouring my body, and embracing a lifestyle that fuels energy, compassion, and limitless growth.

Choosing a plant-based lifestyle is one of the most important decisions I have made. It healed my body, uplifted my spirit, and reconnected me to a deeper purpose. In this article, I will open up about the beautiful changes I have experienced and guide you with simple steps to begin your own journey toward true, lasting wellness.

 

WHAT IS PLANT-BASED FOOD AND WHY SHOULD WE ADOPT IT…??

1. A plant-based diet centers on nourishing the body with whole natural foods. It focuses on fruits, vegetables, legumes, whole grains, nuts, and seeds, foods packed with vitamins, minerals, and fiber. The goal is to choose ingredients that are as close to their natural state as possible, minimizing the consumption of processed foods. This approach supports better health, boosts energy consumption, and promotes a more sustainable and mindful way of living.

 

2. Choosing a plant-based lifestyle is a powerful step toward lifelong wellness. It is associated with a lower risk of heart disease, diabetes, and some cancers. Beyond disease prevention, it helps you feel lighter, stronger, and more energized every day. Nourishing your body with nature’s purest foods is not just about health; it is about thriving, living fully, and embracing the best version of yourself.

 

3. Common Misconceptions and Challenges of a Plant-Based Diet

One of the biggest misconceptions about plant-based diets is that it is difficult to obtain enough protein without meat. There are countless plant-based sources of protein, such as lentils, chickpeas, quinoa, tofu, and tempeh. Another challenge is that plant-based meals are expensive. In reality, many whole foods, such as beans, grains, and seasonal vegetables, are affordable, and they can be cooked in creative, flavourful ways.

If you are worried about missing familiar tastes, try plant-based alternatives such as veggie burgers, dairy-free cheeses, or plant-based milk. They are widely available and can be swapped into one’s favourite recipes. Transitioning does not have to be performed all at once, starting by replacing one meal a day with a plant-based option. Small changes can lead to large results, and you will discover a rich variety of foods and flavors along the way.

 

I will now share my insights into plant-based foods. Initially, when I started my journey of transformation, I had great difficulty switching towards a natural diet because, in that phase itself, I was coming out of food full of calories and fats. Most of the time, I was starving of limited eating, but I slowly recovered and exchanged it with a healthy lifestyle. In addition, I exercised every day for at least an hour. Gradually, I started losing weight from inches to pounds. Finally, within a year, I was reduced to 54 kg, which was ideal as per my height.

“Remember I haven’t sacrificed my well-being. There was no strict diet or fasting. Only I have focused on consistency and dedication.

As a result, I improved my skin texture, a well-shaped body, and a positive and confident mindset.

4. 🌱 Delicious and Easy Plant-Based Recipes to Try

If you are new to plant-based eating, do not worry — here are 2-3 simple recipes that are nutritious, satisfying, and easy to prepare. These meals prove that plant-based cooking is not only healthy, but also delicious and fun.

1. Chickpea Salad Sandwich

Ingredients:

  • 1 can of chickpeas (drained and mashed)

  • 2 tbsp vegan mayo

  • 1 tbsp mustard

  • 1 tsp lemon juice

  • Salt & pepper to taste

  • 1/2 cucumber (sliced thinly)

  • 2 slices of whole-grain bread

Instructions:

  1. In a bowl, chickpeas are mashed with a fork or a potato masher.

  2. Add vegan mayo, mustard, lemon juice, salt, and pepper. Mix until combined.

  3. The chickpea mixture was then spread onto one slice of bread.

  4. Top with cucumber slices, and place the second slice of bread on top.

  5. Serve with fresh vegetables or fruits.

2. Easy Veggie Stir-Fry

Ingredients:

  • 1 tbsp olive oil or sesame oil

  • 1 bell pepper (sliced)

  • 1 carrot (sliced thinly)

  • 1 zucchini (sliced)

  • 1/2 cup snap peas

  • 2 tbsp soy sauce or tamari

  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar

  • 1 tsp sesame seeds (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Heat the oil in a large pan or work over medium heat.

  2. The vegetables were added to the pan and stir-frying for 5-7 minutes, until tender but still vibrant.

  3. Add soy sauce and rice vinegar, stirring to combine.

  4. Sprinkles with sesame seeds for garnishes (optional).

  5. Serve with brown rice or noodles.

Adopting a plant-based diet has been a life-changing decision. Not only have I experienced improved health, more energy, and a clearer mind, but I have also developed a deeper connection to the food I eat and the planet. By focusing on whole, unprocessed foods, such as fruits, vegetables, legumes, and grains, I discovered a lifestyle that nourishes both my body and soul.

I am passionate about healthy eating because it has transformed my life in many positive ways, and I believe it can do the same for you.
